Why ILY

The only end-to-end system for the family life that matters.

Other apps do a slice: a photo dump, a group chat, a calendar, or a digital frame. ILY is the full stack in one private home—album, chat, and kid calendar—then puts those same features on every surface you want, including wall displays and an API for importers.

Core

Album, chat & calendar

A month-by-month private timeline, family messaging with voice notes, and a kid calendar for school, practices, and handoffs—without work clutter or a public feed.

Surfaces

Phones, desktops & Family Frame

Use the full app on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. Put the album and kid calendar on the wall with Family Frame—on tablets, phones, Mac, Windows, Apple TV, and Apple Watch.

Builders

Import & automation API

Tech-savvy families and anyone building importers can publish into the album, calendar, and chat with scoped keys—so existing libraries can land in ILY without re-shooting life.

Every device

Phone, tablet, Mac, or PC. Same family, same place.

ILY runs as native apps on iOS and Android, and as native desktop apps for Mac and Windows. Open chat on your phone, browse the album on a big screen, check the calendar at the kitchen computer. You stay connected to your family no matter which device you pick up.

Prefer the big screen? The Mac and Windows apps are full-featured: family chat, calendar, and your entire photo album, with bulk upload and a watch folder for directory sync. Edit photos on your computer, drop in exports from Google Photos, and keep everything flowing into the family album without fighting phone-only limits.

02 · Chat

Family talk that stays with the moment.

Private family chat for messages, voice notes, and the everyday check-ins that keep everyone close, built into the same Premium home as your album and calendar. We built our own chat instead of relying on third-party messengers so conversation can stay album-centric: family members interact with the historical chain of memories everyone is helping create.

Comment on a photo and it lands inline in the family chat, not as a lost note stuck on the image. The photo becomes a conversation the whole family can keep going.

When life gets busy, family messages are easy to miss inside a huge contact list. ILY gives you one place to catch up with family in one go. It is also simpler for relatives who do not want another social app, another account, or a chat product tied to unrelated networks.

03 · Calendar

Family events in the same place as the photos.

School days, practices, doctor visits, and celebrations. One shared family calendar beside the album and chat, so plans and memories stay together.

Most people already juggle multiple calendars: work, personal, old recurring clutter, and apps that not every relative will join. Getting grandparents, a co-parent, or a caregiver onto the same system is hard, and sometimes you only want temporary access. A family calendar inside ILY keeps kid life separate, private, and easy to share with the people who need it.

Start early

From pregnancy to every first.

Begin documenting the most precious family moments as soon as you can: ultrasounds, bump photos, birth day, first steps. So your timeline grows with your family from the very beginning.

Start late

It’s okay if you missed years.

Dig through your full camera roll, pick the photos and videos that matter, and add them in. ILY organizes everything into a month-by-month family album timeline. No need to have started on day one.

Why parents capture early

Documenting early memories is a way of showing love from the start.

We studied the research on early memory, parent–child reminiscing, and family attachment, and it shaped how ILY works. Capturing moments and later sharing them with your child is not only about nostalgia. It helps children feel held in a family story, and it gives parents a concrete way to show care from the earliest years.

Developmental research finds that talking about the past with children, especially in warm, detailed ways, supports autobiographical memory and is linked with socioemotional development and attachment relationships [1][2]. Sharing family photos and stories also helps keep relatives emotionally connected across distance, including grandparents who want to stay close to a grandchild’s life [3].

That is also why childhood amnesia matters. Most adults cannot recall lasting autobiographical memories from before about age 3 to 4 [4]. ILY keeps those first years safe so the family can look back together, even when the child cannot remember alone.

Love made visible

Early photos and stories become proof that someone was paying attention from the beginning.

Attachment over time

Reminiscing together helps children place themselves in a caring family narrative, not just a pile of files.

A hub for the whole family

Parents, grandparents, and caregivers stay engaged with the same living timeline, even when they cannot be in the room.

Family access

Invite Nora’s people, with the access each person needs.

One family plan covers everyone. You can grant limited access when full album rights are not needed: chat only, calendar only, or full album access for the people who should help build the timeline.

That makes ILY especially useful when you hire a nanny. Parents stay close to the day, the nanny can send photo updates in chat, and either of you can choose whether a moment also belongs in the family album.

Real families

Family dynamics can be complicated. Your album does not have to be.

We know not every side of the family gets along, and that can make sharing photos harder than it should be. A trip, a celebration, or a quiet day at home might be something you want to keep with one group, not cross-shared with everyone.

ILY makes it easy to group members the way your family actually works: mother’s side, father’s side, a secondary household, or both homes after a divorce. Everyone can still stay connected to the child, while sensitive moments stay with the people you choose.

Mother’s side

Share everyday moments with grandparents and relatives on one side without opening every album to the other.

Father’s side

Keep trips, holidays, and private days with the people who should see them, and leave the rest out of the cross-share.

Two homes

After a divorce or in a blended family, both households can stay involved. Grouping helps everyone get along without forcing one feed.

Why we built it this way

Album first. Then chat. Then calendar.

After studying how early memories, reminiscing, and family connection work, we realized the product should start with the album. It is a subtle reminder of your family’s progress, and it gently encourages you to capture more. Chat keeps everyone emotionally connected. Calendar keeps everyone on track.

01 · Album, not camera roll

Camera rolls are disposable. Albums are for looking back.

A camera roll keeps filling up while life stays busy. People take more photos than they ever revisit. You scroll to whatever is newest, and older moments slip away even though the files are still there.

ILY is built for reflection: swipe through a year, two years, or ten, and watch your family grow. The point is to document everything you reasonably can in the early years, because most children will not remember those days on their own [4].

02 · Family chat, not another messenger

One place for the people raising this child together.

We wanted an album-centric chat: conversation attached to the shared history the family is building, so everyone feels more connected to the memories themselves [1][3].

Around the age many people have children, contact lists are huge and days are full. Family messages get buried. A dedicated family space means you can catch up with the people who matter in one go, without asking every relative to master a complicated chat app or join a social network that has nothing to do with family life.

03 · A family-only calendar

Kid life should not compete with work clutter.

Families often live across several calendars: office schedules, personal apps, abandoned recurring events, and systems that not every relative uses. Getting everyone onto one shared calendar is hard, and sometimes access should be temporary.

That is why ILY includes a family-only calendar: preschool, doctors, practices, and handoffs in one private place, shared with the people who need them, without mixing in the rest of adult life.

Privacy

No ads. No selling your data. A platform you can trust with family photos.

We do not run ads inside ILY, and we do not sell customer data. Family photos can be extremely sensitive, and privacy is of the utmost importance. You should be able to trust the platform you use to keep them.

The only exception is that we may tell you about other apps in our own ecosystem: products we own and develop for child development or for keeping the family together. Never third-party ad networks. Never selling your family’s information.

Read the full Privacy Policy.

No ads in the app

Your family timeline stays a private space, not a place for advertising.

We do not sell data

Customer data is not a product. Your photos and messages are not for sale.

Our ecosystem only

We may share news about our own family and child-development apps, nothing else.

Security & privacy

Private object storage. No family media on our app servers.

Photos, videos, and voice notes live in private Amazon S3 storage with strong access policies and encryption in transit. Application servers coordinate the family system. They are not a dumping ground for your archive. That storage layer sits on AWS infrastructure covered by ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, and 27018 (certified services list). Everything stays family-scoped—never a public social feed.
